IPod Classic - Search Function Not Working

80 gig classic, 6 months old. Search function stopped working. Going to it brings me to the selection it found the last time it worked correctly (Neil Young, The Needle and Damage Done..) one week ago. It doesnt give me the ability to search. What causes this??

Are you using the rewind button |<< to clear the existing search terms once you get into the search menu?

My search feature in iPod is not working correctly. I bought 80 gig classic just last week, brand new, updated to 1.1.1 before I even put any music on it. the search function doesn't work at all.

the rewind button doesn't delete previous letters.
there are only alphabets, no numbers to choose as characters

It only delete previous search when I reboot the iPod. ANY HELP?

Well, this morning I did the restore thing for the iPod, the rewind button now works but needs a hard press. the search feature also returned to normal.

I have noticed that there are no numbers to choose as characters in the search field. is that a new feature in Classic? because the 5G had numbers as well as characters! why did they eliminate numbers?
