I recently bought a SanDisk 2GB Micro Cruzer flash drive, and as owners may know, it comes with a "smart" software called U3 but it only works on PCs. So in order for the flash drive to be usable on Mac OS X or Linux, you have to remove the U3 software from SanDisk.com. So I did remove it and it works on my Mac, but everytime I plug it in, a folder called Embedded Documents containing a file called LaunchU3.exe. When I try to empty my trash this dialog box comes up:
I have tried pressing Option and emptying to no avail. Then my sister got the same exact flash drive, and I removed the U3 software for her...no Embedded Documents. Why just me? How can I get rid of it from popping up in my Trash...btw everytime I eject my flash drive, they go away.
Thanks in advance!

+"Ok...now I feel like an idiot and I am only telling this so others will not do the same thing. I downloaded the unlocker and of course it did not work on my mac. THEN I got the bright idea to right click and just open the file. Low and Behold there was a lock with a little check in the box. I simply unchecked the lock and unlocked the darn thing and moved it to the trash. I spent way too much time on this I guess I have learned a valuable lesson though. Next time I will open the file and check it out first. Thanks for your help though. It is good to know there are people out here with suggestions.+

That didn't help me really but I still solved my problem: once the Embedded Documents are in the Trash, Option-right click on the Trash icon, DO NOT EMPTY THE TRASH BY OPENING UP THE TRASH WINDOW, and then click empty trash...the LaunchU3.exe will never bother you again!
Honestly, I always plug flash drives that come with this junky software installed into a windows computer first, and remove it all from there. The software even provides an easy tools to remove it. It's easier. Technically, you could just completely repartition and format the flash drive from within Mac OS X, though.
So, as it turned out, I had the same freaking problem! I was trying to copy all of my documents from one of my SanDisk Cruzer Micro Jump Drives to another. I plugged the old one into my MacBook (Not a MacBook Pro and NOT with Leopard running - just the plain Mac OSX) and copied EVERYTHING from it to the desktop. Then, I removed the old Jump Drive, plugged in the new one, and copied everything from the desktop to it. Unfortunately, the stupid charcoal-colored "LaunchU3.exe" file was still there! Nothing would work - I tried deleting it via the Terminal, that didnt work - I tried opening it up with an application, still no luck - I tried the obvious, too, by dragging it to the trash, putting it into a folder and THEN dragging it to the trash, with no luck because it was "Locked."
I started an search for an answer, first with Google, then with the Apple website. After all is said and done, I found a way. . . .
1. Right click on the file (for me, it was still on my desktop)
2. Click "Get Info"
3. In the new window titled something like "LaunchU3.exe," youll see drop-down windows. Click the one titled "General"
4. There should be a little checkbox "Locked." Simply unlock it!
