Spotlight is a Tiger-only feature. On the G3 use Find from the Finder's File menu when booted into 10.2.x.
Hi. I recently got an imac G5(OS 10.4) and am in the process of transfering some old info and apps from my old iMacG3 (10.2.8) over to the new one via firewire cable and targetdisc mode. On my G3 I used such applications as Appleworks, photoshop elements 2, and imovie which all included the fonts "kids" and "kidprint". After opening any of these applications on my G5.... these fonts are not included among the font list. I'm wondering where did they go and how do I find them on the G3 harddrive to transfer over to the G5? I've looked in harddrive-library-fonts as well as home-library-font collections as well as library-application support but cannot find them. I know they must exist somewhere on the harddrive but dont know where else to look. Would appreciate if anyone could tell me why they did'nt transfer over or where these will be located on the G3? Thanks. P.S.- Was thinking spotlight would be able to locate them but is this just a Tiger application?

If your old G3 ran OS 9, then the fonts will be located in the OS 9 System Folder in the Fonts folder. If you ran OS X on the G3, then the fonts should located in either the /Library/Fonts/ folder or the /Home/Library/Fonts/ folder. In any case look for them on the old G3's hard drive.

Hi. Thanks for responding.I just checked in the OS9 system folder but these specific fonts were not included there. I rechecked harddrive/library/fonts and definately not there. Rechecked home/library/fonts....this folder is empty and the "fontcollections" folder does not contain these. This is frustrating since I can open the afore mentioned applications on the G3 and use the "kids", "kidprint" font from the font list....therefore I know they exist.I'm wondering is it possible that these two fonts are named something else in the font folders? (even though I've never changed any names). In the fontcollections folder are files with names such as "classic.fcache" and modern.fcache". Are these groups of fonts?
Bruce,
kidprint is part of Palm Desktop Fonts found at HD>System9 Folder>Fonts>Palm Desktop Fonts I believe.
As for kid font I couldn't find it either, or at least not on my system.
Hope that helps a little,

Hi. Thanks. It worked for the "kidprint" font. Apparently the problem is that these 2 fonts are named something else in the font folders or "grouped" together with a group of fonts under a different name. I'm guessing that the "kid" font falls in the same type of situation.
