Battery Charging stops at 99%?

yes, i've heard some said that when you charged your MBP while it's still not below 80%

it can only goes to 97% or 99%

but this time, i charged from like 5%

but i never can go back to 100% again

why is this?

This comes right from the manual:
"If the battery icon in the Finder menu bar is set to show the percentage of charge, you might sometimes notice that the battery does not attain a full 100 percent charge when the power adapter is attached. This is normal behavior; battery life is maximized if charging is not continuously cycled on and off when the battery’s charge capacity is between 95 and 100 percent. When the battery level eventually drops below 95 percent, it will charge all the way to 100 percent."

I think your situation is normal; the battery will fluctuate between 95 and 100 percent.

mine does that too every now and again but it does go back to the 100% charged the next time... im just used to it so it really doesn't bother me anymore.... if it makes you feel more comfortable then calibrate your battery every month or so.
They say that you will get the most out of your battery's life span by performing the calibration.
hope this helps a little bit.

A lot depends on what else is going on while the battery is charging.

Remember, the charger is not able to supply all of the power the computer needs when it is working hard, spinning disks etc. and the battery adds in the difference to handle the peaks, only charging during the troughs in power consumption. (This is why the CPU is speed limited when you take out the battery).

If the computer usage profile was such that, when the battery was between 95% and 100%, the charging profile was changed, it is possible that the charging circuitry will think that this is a 'top up' and so not add any more charge.

Try charging the battery while the computer is turned off (over night or whatever) and you should see the 100% as long as the battery is in good condition.

In my opinion, getting the charge to 100% is not all that important - after all how many minutes difference will it really make?

yea, it;s not the matter of the difference, yes 99% and 100% could only be like 2-5 minutes different

it's just about the viewing pleasure and for the sake of feeling that my machine is not malfunctioning

because obviously something definitely wrong when it cant show 100 when it's charged below 90% where is should

but what i did was exact the same, i leave my MBP overnight in sleep mode while charging it, but it can not go 100%, it's frustrating when these kind of things happens to your newly MBP =P

and i dont care about the lenght of the life at all

but thanks for the tips tho

appreciate it

ok, my battery life is 99% at 7 cycles

it's a 2 month old MacbookPro

and yes, i often use it at home, so i dont really unplug the magsafe, unless i bring it downstairs or when i got to my college

but here's the problem

it can charge up to 100%, but when i leave it just like that after it is 100% ( in sleep mode and magsafe still plugged )

the next day it can go down to 99% again

is this still normal?
