MacBook Pro Freezes after successfull 10.5.2 update

I downloaded and installed 10.5.2 last night, and experienced no problems. The installation was smooth. However, this morning my MacBook Pro (2.33 ghz Intel, 2GB Ram) froze twice during normal use. First I was using Safari and the screen froze, no cursor movement, nothing. I had to restart with the power button. Then, a few minutes after the restart, I was composing an email in Mail, and the same freeze happened. No cursor movement.

I have since downloaded the iLife 08 update and Leopard Graphics Update. So far, no problems and no freezes, but its only been a few minutes.

I searched the forum, and didnt see any similar posts. Please let me know if you have this same problem, or if you have heard of any fixes.

I have the same problem!!!!

It has happened 4 or 5 times already, just exactly the way you've described it! No problem installing 10.5.2, installing the iLife update, installing the graphics update. But ever since after that when i use Safari it totally freezes, no mouse movement, keyboard, lights stay lit up, doesnt respond to closing lid for sleep mode or powerbutton. Have to restart by holding down powerbutton.. So strange.. Havent seen other posts yet but heres someone just like you supporting your post ! I have the same issue. I have had everything freeze. on a number of occasions and had to restart using the power button. I will have a search around to see if I can find anything to.

I have subscribed to this post for updates.

In my logs I've noticed that at the time of my frequent freezes the last message written to my system log file is always the all too frequent graphics channel exception... possibly having to do with OpenGL. I do have the graphics update installed too...

My ibook on software update went to install ilife update...after I downloaded 10.5.2 update, without installing......greyscreen spinning dial forever.....I cannot log on to my user account?

Had exactly the same problem. Ended up trashing safari and reinstalling with pacifist. Now works fine again

I seem to have found my fix.

I have now been working with out any problems for a few hours. I plugged in a wired mouse and deleted my blue tooth mouse pairing.

So could be something to do with the mouse prefs or something. I will continue on the wired mac just to make sure then try re-pairing when I am sure.

same here. about 7 times during an hour. 6 times while using safari and one time while composing a mail. i have no external mouse an no other stuff plugged in, so i don't think it's caused by that.
bluetooth is disabled all the time by the way.

Same problem. No attached devices. Froze twice already when just finished booting. Just since 10.5.2. I smell a 10.5.2. - MacBookPro bug...

Same problem with first generation MBP 1.83 GHZ/2GB RAM.

Hangs randomly, but cursor keeps moving. Can ping the machine so the OS is still running. Appears to be graphic related.

I am going to try wiping the system clean and reinstalling everything.

I'm having the same problem, it's already happened 4 or 5 times and it's annoying. I notice it most when using Safari, the screen just freezes and I'm thinking it has something to do with the Graphics Update. For some reason, I thought it had something to do when I would scroll using two-fingers on the trackpad....

Been having the same issue since my 10.5.2 upgrade, mostly when graphic-intensive things such as the screensaver or WoW are running. No obvious OpenGL-related errors or anything like that that I can see in the console: MBP 2.16 with 2G RAM.

*Opps I knew I spoke to soon!... Back to the same problem. After a about 6 hours use everything locks up. So it aint anything to do with my mouse! BTWI am using a iMac so this problem is not just on MacBooks. I have a mac book but have not run the new updates and it is working fine. Has any one been on to customer support?
