Mackie Control and GB '08?

Does anyone know if a Mackie Control will work with Garageband 8?

The reason I ask is that I have a Mackie Control (actually an M-Audio Projectmix emulating a Mackie Control) that I'd like to use with Logic 8. I'd like to use Garageband as my songwriting/scratchpad tool and then import songs into Logic for editing and mixing.

It would be very cool if I could use even rudimentary controller functions (such as transport controls) within Garageband. I'd like to use a single controller for both programs. I'd prefer not to buy the separate M-audio controller for Garageband, that would be redundant and clutterish.

Thanks for any info!

Best,

John

Hello there,
I've tried your trick with my logic control (in mackie control mode).
It actually partially worked.
It seems that the transport functions (play, rewind, forward, stop, rec) don't work.
But the faders, eq, pan solo, cycle and so on do !
Maybe it is a question of remapping these functions by altering parameters inside the "midi device plug".(something i'm unable to do).

it is cleary an evidence that garage band is able but handicaped by some restrictions.
Please Apple, let us use our favorite controller with GB 08!

To be clear, I had the same exact experience as Cyril -- the faders worked perfectly but the transport did not work. It would be great if Garageband would support Logic Control. This would be huge for the home studio crowd, especially with the advent of all-in-one interface/control surfaces like Tascam FW1884 and M-Audio Projectmix.
