I have been following this thread for a few weeks as I too have the problem, and I too believe a reboot is NOT the solution. I have been working on this with some people on a different forum, but posting here just became more relevant. The first connection I made with a person on the other thread is that we were both running vmware fusion. While this is a different virtual machine, perhaps the problem resides in a common way of handling screen savers in the VM. Either way, I turned off my screen saver in my Window VM for now, and have not had the problem yet (which means nothing since it could take weeks to appear).
The second thing I noticed on the other list is that we may all be using a monitor with our laptops. We were thinking that perhaps this could be the common thread.
What's needed is for someone, and perhaps more than just one person, to demonstrate the problem without a VM or an external monitor. If YOU have the screen saver problem without either antecedents, then please post to the forum and let us know.
