How long does the update process take

I downloaded the update, and it appeared to go through install, i.e., got the progress bar and screen went blank, process repeated a few times...but now the screen stays blank now for about 10-15 minutes ?? Is that supposed to happen. I tried unplugging and plugging back in, but nothing happens. Is there a way to force a restore, or does this update take a long time ?

From selecting Update Now (or whatever it said) after downloading it took 10mins and a couple of seconds on a 40GB AppleTV to get to the new startup screen.

I'd give or take a few minutes depending on how full/fit/big your AppleTv drive is as I would imagine there'd be a bit of variation between machines.
