are there any conflicts listed?

Hello, Sorry to see your having this issue today. Posted below are some questions.




1. Do you experience this same issue in all USB Ports?

2. Do you experience this same issue in a new user account?

3. If you go to Start - and in the search box type services.msc and press ok or search. A program called services will launch. Do you see a service called Apple Mobile Device? If so is the Status started? stopped? or nothing at all?


4. If you go to Computer, Then access Local Disk C: Then go to Windows and then go to System32 folder. In this folder you should see a folder called drivers. In this folder do you see a driver called usbaapl.sys ?


Also if you could. Right click on Computer, Select properties, then select the option on the left hand side called "Device Manager" on the very bottom of the new window is "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" click on the plus sign. When iPhone is connected. Do you see something called "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" ?

Small possibility that the USBAAPL.sys driver could be corrupt.


If you connect iPhone into another computer do you experience the same issue?

Sorry to drop in on this thread, but I have Windows Vista issue that is similar. My iPhone does not show up in Vista on my desktop machine but does in my Vista laptop. I tried searching for the file USBAAPL.sys on both machines and it is not on either machine. I'm at a loss. No issues in the device manager on either machine.

Did you ever get your problem figured out? I am suddenly experiencing the same issue, even though I've had the phone for a couple months.

I've done pretty much everything discussed in this thread and have yet to reach a solution.

First connect open iTunes and connect your iPhone to your computer then follow the steps below

1. Hold down the Windows Key and press R.

2. Type devmgmt.msc and click OK.

3. Right-click Apple Mobile Device listed under Other Devices and then select Properties.

4. Select Browse…

5. Point it to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\drivers and click OK.

6. Disconnect your iPhone close iTunes then reconnect your iPhone and try again

The install should finish and your iPhone should now be all good.

If this does not work

Quit iTunes if it is open
From the Start menu select the Control panel
In Windows XP, choose Add or Remove Programs, then click Remove. Also remove any other items with the word “iTunes” in their names. Also remove any iPod-related entries.
Restart your PC.
Delete the iTunes program itself, if it still exists after the steps you’ve already taken (by default it’s located in the “Program Files” folder)
Again restart your PC.
Download the latest version of iTunes for Windows and install it.

Ok I was having the same problem. I also noticed that I had a *RED X* on my Network Connection Icon.
This is what I did to fix the problem:
Go to Accessories, right click on Command Screen, run as administrator and enter:

net localgroup "Administrators" "NT Authority\Local Service" /add


edit: spacing may not be clear in that font - it is:

net localgroup "Administrators" "NT Authority\Local Service" /add

Then I rebooted My System and Bam it worked no more Red X and The Iphone drive popped up and started working…
