How do I remove 3ivx?

This page will tell you to remove some of the components in the -->library--Quicktime folder.

Did you empty your trash, repair permissions and/or restart your computer?

Judging from the picture 3ivx is still on your system.

You provided no system info. Which OS system are you using?

To repair permissions (Tiger)
Save and/or quit your applications & doucuments

Go to Applications>Utilities Folder

Click Disk Utility

Click the Volumn (HD) that you want to check.

Click the Repair Disk Permissions button. (Don't worry about verifying)

At the bottom of window when the repairs have finished, you will see the “most important thing”:
Permission Repairs Complete
The previliges have been repaired or completed on the selected volumn.

Restart your computer (Optional).

TIP-You should Repair Permissions & restart:
After installing and/or updating an OS (Operating System).
After installing software.
After burning sessions

After doing the above & you still can bring up the 3ivx shown in your link (thank you for providing) then I suggest that you re-search your HD using Spotlight and Finder>File>Find. Also, manually check your Preferences folder - Home>Library>Preferences.

Use 3ivx as your search keyword for Spotlight & Find.

I think if you look at the photo that the OP provided you will see what OS is being used.

Not if you've never used the OS system. I jumped from OS 9.2 to Tiger therefore, no experience w/Jaguar, Panther or Leopard.

My guess is that the OP is using Leopard, but why should we have to guess? 😀

i have gone through the same problem and my initial approach to it was to uninstall everything that has 3ivx. unfortunately the watermarks is still there. when i check the library folder, and open the quicktime folder, 2 plugins of 3ivx is still undeleted and activated. so deleted it- at first it cant be deleted because its still been used. i chose "security empty trash" and after i restart it, quicktime now works well without that annoying 3ivx watermarks.

A 3ivx Pop-up keeps coming up every time I open a new application or document. Is there anyway i can get rid of it?

Funny, I don't even know why I installed this 3ivx component in the first place. Must've been an AVI file that wouldn't play. Imagine my surprise when ALL my video files (.mov, .avi) suddenly had that nasty watermark on it. Whatever company is responsible for this OBNOXIOUS hijacking should be put out of business!
Thanks for your tip regarding deleting the files. Worked great for me, and I have my videos back!

This is how I got rid of 3ivx

1. Open Finder
2. Clicked on Macintosh HD
3. Clicked on Library
4. Clicked on Quicktime
5. Deleted files:
3ivxMediaExporter.component and
3ivxVideoCodec.component


I hope this works for anyone.
