Issues using MS SharePoint WebDAV share

Our office has a MS SharePoint server that I am able to connect to via WebDAV. I can see the directories and files I need access to, but am having issues.

When I try and open any CSS files or copy them to my machine, I get I/O errors (-36). Other types of files I can open no problem.

When I try an copy any file from my machine to the WebDAV share, I get a dialog window: "The operation cannot be completed because the item" [file I'm trying to copy] "is in use." It copies a corrupted file of 0 KB, though.

I can, however, create a new file in, say, Dreamweaver and save it to the WebDAV share.

Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Strange, Error -36 is Connection refused...

I have the same issue. I can use "Connect to server" and enter the http address to the SharePoint server. It connects just fine. However, when I try to copy a file up to it, it says:

"You cannot copy some of these items to the destination because their names are too long or contain invalid characters for the destination. Do you want to skip copying these items and continue copying the other items? [Stop] [Skip]"

The file I'm copying is "test.jpg". Pressing either Stop or Skip leaves 0k files.

As I really need this to work, I've tried other utilities as well. When I try to connect via ANY other WebDAV client including Dreamweaver and supply the CORRECT username and password I get: "An HTTP error occurred. Dreamweaver cannot make a connection to host. Your login or password is incorrect. Please check your connection information."

Somehow it's refusing all connections.

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just encountered this problem and managed to get this resolved, at least for Dreamweaver. Basically, there are a number of authentication methods for webDav: integrated Windows, Basic, and one other. Service providers usually turn on integrated Windows, and rarely Basic. Dreamweaver can only connect through Basic authentication, which sends passwords out in unencrypted clear text. However, if the provider has SSL, then turning on basic authentication shouldn't be a problem.

Since I have full access to my WebDav server, I created an SSL cert for that, so that I would connect through https://... I enabled basic authentication, and now Dreamweaver CS3 connects to it without problem.

The funny thing is, before I got this problem fixed, I had no problems connecting to my WebDav server under Finder->Connect to server... I suppose Mac OS X leopard has native support for integrated windows authentication.
