iPod classic grouping all similar albums into one list

Hello all,

I have an iPod classic 160GB and I have the following problem:

I have several albums titled by different artists titled "MTV Unplugged" "Greatest Hits" or "Best Of".

I am extremely obsessive about my iTunes library and all of my tracks have every single bit of information they could have, even composers and years and the lyrics to every single track, so I do not think that is where my problem is

What happens is that my iPod shows every track from every album with the same name in one single list, so for example, if I choose the album called "10000 Maniacs MTV Unplugged", I get a list with 281 tracks which is the total number of tracks for all of the albums I have which are titled "MTV Unplugged". The same is happening with all of the "Best Of" and "Greatest Hits" albums.

I searched the forums before I posted this and found similar problems where the suggested answer was to add information like the album artist to the tracks, but as I said, my iTunes library is very complete, so I would like to know if anybody has a suggestion on how to fix this problem.

Thank you very much

cause you have checked box "keep files organized."

I don't do that instead you can use the view say Grouping. Take each of your files from the MTV and organize it the way you want to call it. Make a PLAYLIST based upon that then drag each playlist into the ipod. Example ipod organizes a music file called "Light My Fire" into say Doors Greatest Hits. I'd group that file using apple+i say to Doors Favorites. Then do the id3 tag on it to reserve the metadata.
I'd make a playlist called Doors Favorites and drag every Doors music file I wanted into that playlist. Drag that playlist into my ipod. When I started my ipod and looked at the playlist, what do you think I's see....Doors Favorites.

The other workaround, which I prefer, is to use spaces after the Album title. For example, if you have three albums called "MTV Unplugged", you leave the 1st album alone, you tag the 2nd one as "MTV Unplugged " (1 space), and you tag the 3rd album as "MTV Unplugged " (2 spaces). This effectively separates the albums but preserves their proper title. If desired, you can put a comment in the tag to mark the ones you modified in case Apple corrects this someday.
