Purevideo HD on Macbook Pro
Hi,
On my Macbook Pro (2.2ghz, 8600M GT) I've noticed that when playing H.264 HD videos in 720p or 1080i, the CPU utilization increases dramatically, often going to 75% and beyond.
But I've heard that the 8600M is capable of on-board realtime H.264 decoding under the Purevideo HD moniker. Given this, the CPU utilization for watching high definition H.264 content on a 2.2ghz macbook pro should be significantly lower than that for my other Macbook Pro (2.16ghz, X1600) but it is NOT!
Is it because the drivers for OSX are not compatible with the PureVideo HD system? Or is it because Quicktime is not the program to use?
Thank you all!
