Numbers-- need to make address labels

I have Numbers on the new computer(MacBook) and Excel on the old one (PowerBook--the Wall Street version).

2 questions:

How do I make address labels from Numbers? I opened Pages, but couldn't get the equivalent of Tools in Excel--or anything else that worked.

I copied the Numbers file from the MacBook to the PowerBook. I could not open the Numbers file in Excel. When I go from the Excel to Numbers, info transfers ok.

I will soon be putting Excel on the new MacBook, but I need the labels today!

Thanks for your help.

Neither Pages or Numbers is designed for doing labels. My guess (& it's only a guess), is that, since labels can be printed directly from Address Book, doing labels in Pages wasn't considered a priority. You could make your own, but there isn't a template. Using a table set up to fit the labels would probably be best, but you'll have to "fiddle" with the sizes & enter all data manually. If you're planning to merge from Address Book, remember that Pages will only merge one name per page.

Mr. Koenig,

I am trying to retrieve your address labels program on your idisk, and it doesn't seem to download - nor do any of the others there. I am not accustomed to idisk, though I AM accustomed to downloading from the web. Clicking on it says "loading" and then nothing happens. Dragging the file onto my desktop just gets me the .gif, not the .zip. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks - Clare Durst

Hello

When the idisk is reached, you navigate exactly as you do in your HD.

double click on the little arrow pointed on the screenshot and the file will quickly reach your machine (as you may see on the report on the right part of the screenshot.

Are you sure that the file is not already available on your machine?
I don't know which is the default folder used on your machine for downloading.

erm...Peggy.. how exactly do you print labels from Address Book? I haven't found anywhere that show how to do this.

The address book help says:
Choose File > Print.
Choose Mailing Labels from the Style pop-up menu, and then set other options:

Right, but there's no Style pop-up menu, when I choose File->Print...so much for that.

ANyone have any ideas?
Thanks
