My iPhone screen goes black after I make a call so I can't know if I have ended the call or not. I have to power off and restart, which seems to take several tries before it works.

Also the Phone gets stuck on Favorites and the screen won't respond to the touch so I can't make any calls at all.

I bought the phone in September. I would like to know what is going on.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.10), 28GB available

    have you reset?

IF that doesn't clear it out, did your restore?

If that doesn't work, then its time for a repair.

I would like to know if I can just get a replacement. Does Apple do that? I have taken excellent care of this phone with a solid acrylic case and flip screen protector. I am pretty sure that there is something faulty with the hardware not the software.

Only Apple can make that determination and they aren't going to tell any of us. When you send it in, they might repair yours, or send a replacement which might be new, or refurbished. You would not even have a way of knowing that.

At either rate, they won't tell you in advance how they will resolve your problem.

The one thing they WILL do is have your reset your phone....and if that doesn't work, they will ask you to Restore your phone....and if that doesn't work, then they will assist you with returning for repair (or replacement, totally up to them)...

That is why I said, to begin with, make sure you reset, then restore before turning to repair. It will save you an hour on the phone with support just restoring your phone anyway, or at the Genius Bar, where the first thing they will do is make sure all your software/firmware is updated and then do a restore before they do any kind of repair or return procedure.

Okay. I spoke to a tech support using the 800 number. He determined that it was hardware and gave me a case number. He said that I will get a replacement. Now I want to know if that will be honored.

They won't tell you per their own TOS. They might repair, they might replace.

If the repair would take them more than a few minutes, you will get a replacement. It's not worth their time to repair.

Make sure you have fully synced your iPHone before the box arrives to your iTunes so that you have a backup when the new phone arrives a few days down the road.
