Gravesmc2003:
Here is my experience: I have been unable to use the HPLaserjet
and_Edgelineprint-only.dmg software, or the software for other printers. Here is what I would do
-- you have to deinstall HPLaserjet
and_Edgelineprint-only.dmg.
-- now that you are at it, deinstall also HP Laserjet
v8_10.dmg. Also erase the printer for the HP laserjet 3020 you may have defined.
-- then re-install the HP Laserjet
v8_10.dmg software. Then restart. Then you will go through the setup process again. Most likely, the first time the laserjet won't be seen. Apparently you have to quit the setup assistant, and then re-start it again. That's what HP instructions explain.
-- Eventually, you should see the printer and be able to do the full setup process. At least that's what happened to me.
If you get to this point, then you should be able to scan. Rosetta is an emulator for OS 9 programs inside OS X. In general programs "know" when to use Rosetta (you can change the preferences and force a program to use Rosetta by using the "Get Info" window of the program, from the Finder). But you should do nothing because the Laserjet
v8_10.dmg software should already come configured in the right way.
This being said, now that I experienced it, I can say with certainty that you will realise that the HP software is simply pathetic. Don't expect to do any serious scan with it (for ex, I need to scan articles). It will keep quitting on you in the middle of the average scan and you'll have to start over again. As I also am working with a PC attached to the same 3020, unbeliable as it may seem, the Os X sofware still works better than its counterpart on Windows. But in both cases, they are just terrible pieces of software and your best bet is to use an alternative scanning program, or else burn the 3020 in front of the HP shop where you bought it. I am still trying to find which of the two alternatives is the best one.
Good luck.
