"Apple Mobile Device Support" Software... do I need it?

Hi,

I searched the forums but the search results weren't entirely clear on this....

I have only an iPod Video (not an iTouch or an iPhone). Do I need the Apple Mobile Device Support software that is installed or can I safely uninstall it?
