Connecting Sony KDL-40V2500 to mini using HDMI - Displayconfig help

Have my Sony KDL-40V2500 connected by HDMI cable (there is a VGA connection for computers on the set but I want to get the full 1080p) and while I can get a 1080p connection I am having problems getting the mini's screen size correct on the TV. I have turned overscan on in system prefs and have installed Displayconfig and fiddled around with the settings but don't really know what settings I should be putting into Displayconfig. Tried a couple but the mini just had kernel panic when I booted up.

Anyone with a similar setup who can advise on the correct Displayconfig settings or even a starting point for the settings? I have no idea want a front and back porch means for example (in this context of course!).

According to others that own the same TV on the AVS Forum, it's plug and play with 1080p and a computer. No need to fiddle with DisplayConfigX.

Are you sure you have the settings right on the Sony? I would check that.

Thank you! You are absolutely right. I didn't realise that my TV could do that so was getting ready for a long fight with Displayconfig.

For those of you with a similar TV, you just need to go into screen settings and then under display area make sure that it is on full pixel for the HDMI input that you are using from the mini. I am actually in Japan with Japanese menus on my TV so the above is just a rough translation of what the menus will b in English. The key thing though is to choose full pixel for your HMDI input from mini.

You say you have the mini hooked via HDMI. Is there an HDMI to DVI cable or are you using some kind of adapter?
