This occurs only if there are photos available on the iPhone that were captured by the iPhone.
Two ways to change this.
Via iPhoto preferences.
At the menu bar go to iPhoto > Preferences and under the General tab, select No Application for Connecting Camera Opens.
You can do the same with the Image Capture application.
When doing so, iPhoto will not launch automatically when any digital camera or card reader with inserted camera card is connected to your Mac.
It is also a good idea to import all photos captured by your iPhone to your Mac for safe keeping. Although photos captured by the iPhone are included with the iPhone's backup file maintained by iTunes which is updated if needed as part of the iPhone sync process, you shouldn't depend on this.
Better to import these photos and then remove them from the iPhone's Camera Roll after the import process is completed. If you want any of these photos available on your iPhone, transfer the photos to your iPhone via the iPhone sync process.
I'm trying to solve this problem, and as i read in several threads, and as allan suggests the key is in image capture or the latest iphoto. Now, i'm running on mac os tiger (10.4.11), and for some reason which i can't understand, i don't have Image Capture. I googled quite a lot to find and download this application, but without success, does anyone know where i can get it or how can i resolve this issue?? thanks!!!
Hi Nathan, i thought that as well, and probably i did deleted in the past but i can't remember. I just reinstalled the original applications from the install disk, but unfourteanetly Image Capture didn't appear again. So i'm still not knowing what to do. Thanks Nathan for your help.
Hi Allan, i'm running iPhoto 6.0.6 version, i downloaded pacifist, but what i actually need is the image capture so i prevent that iphoto opens when i dock the iphone. This version of iPhoto has not the choice to disable the camera when connected, so i can't resolve the problem. Thank you however for all your help.
Did you read the details about what Pacifist is used for?
+Pacifist is a small program that opens up .pkg installer packages and lets you install individual files out of them. This is useful if you need to install just one file out of a package instead of the entire package (for example, if you deleted your Preview application and need to reinstall it, but not the whole operating system).+
You can use Pacifist to open up the installer packages on your Tiger install disc to install the Image Capture application only.
