View video saved in GIF format?

HELP! I don't know how, and I don't know why... All I do know is I obviously do not know what I've done! This video format stuff is new to me, why exactly the video I took with my computers external camera was saved in GIF format? Well I honestly could not say. Now, what I NEED to know is can it be saved? What originally I suppose, was about a 20 min. video, is now a couple shots of 5 seconds. I feel like such an airhead, I can't even remember what app. I used to take it. Options are: iMovie HD6, Photo Booth (but prob. not) or an app. I downloaded called Video Viewer. Now chances are, those of you (and this should be an easy one) out there more experienced than I, would probably know which one of these apps. could have easily taken a video of 20 min. or so. And then, for what ever reason (probably me?) saved it in GIF format! So, the obvious question? What do I do now? All educated answers, opinions, guesses welcome! Thank you for your time and patience, and please do not yell at me to loudly! 🙂
