General Error

Hi,

Everytime I launch iChat, I get a general error, try again message. If I click OK I can access the preferences etc but changing the port to 443 doesn't do anything. I have recently upgraded to 10.5.2. Do I need to add iChat in my security system prefences again. Its driving me insane....

Try these things

Go to iChat menu >Preference > Accounts > Server Setting and change the port to 443.

Restart iChat.

If you have not got one go to System Preferences > Accounts and set up a spare Mac User Account
Open that account (log in to it)
Set up iChat with your Current AIM screen name
Does this one work ?
Try this one with port 443.

If the 443 works for the first then well and good.

If the New Mac Account works and the first did not then return to logging in on the first Mac User Account and go to Users/(your account)/Library/Preferences and delete com.apple.ichat.AIM.plist and restart iChat
