Feb 17, 2008 12:52 AM in response to Powermac14249by krowmagnum,First I would delete anything Norton installed in your system. You do not need it, and Norton's Utilities cam cause a lot of headaches in a Mac.
The DUO Dock has a SCSI hard drive in it and a floppy drive. You could replace the floppy with an optical drive but you would have to do a lot of cutting to make it fit. The problem will be that it has to be a SCSI drive and to hook it up would require some serious re-wiring. -

I am not sure where you would hope to find accessories for a PB that old. The primary reason for the dock was to miniaturize the laptop. Even the latest PB air leaves off options in the interest of size.
Do you have a source for slimline products? No one is going to manufacture a DVD drive for a computer that does not have an OS that supports DVD.

Feb 18, 2008 7:02 PM in response to Powermac14249by Texas Mac Man,Norton is OK to use on OS 9 & below, but don't ever use it on OS X.
I doubt that you have a virus because there aren't any that affest Macs. You'll have to use trial & error in the Extension Manager to determine the offending extension file.

Feb 19, 2008 6:44 PM in response to Texas Mac Manby krowmagnum,Apparently Norton is causing a problem in pre-OS X. It's incorrectly isolating a so called virus which is very very unlikely. not impossible but unlikely.
As far as using Norton's SAM there is virtually no reason to use it. Other Norton utilities are debatable as to their effectiveness or usefulness.
