iWeb not saving site / page content disappears

iWeb not saving site / page content disappears

I have tried to create a website several times with my new Mac running leopard and ilife 08.

I am pretty familiar with iWeb but this has me confused. I create a site with several pages....then save it. Publish it to .mac and everything looks fine.

Then I close iWeb and when I open it later the pages are there, and in order, but there is no content on them at all...just a white screen. No theme is even selected.

My library/applications support/iweb folder does have a domain file but it is just called: Domain with no extension.

Anyone that can lead me in the right direction? Thanks

Try deleting the file Home Folder/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWeb.plist, restart your Mac and run disk utility to repair permissions.
Do you have "Show all file extensions" unchecked in Finder/Preferences/Advanced?

Try dragging your domain file into the trash, delete the .plist again and then relaunch iWeb to get it to create a new domain file. Test that out by adding a little content, save, quit and relaunch.
If it still doesn't work you'll have to try reinstalling iWeb, run the updates, restart and try again.

I have the same problem. My website is posted ok, but now when I open iWeb entire photo almbums are missing, and all I get is a blank page.

I've tried the suggestions above (except for reinstalling iWeb, which I don't know how to do, since it came in the iLife bundle). Any other ideas? Apple????

I've got this problem, too, with Tiger on a MacBook. I'm not techie enough to solve it using the suggestions, which seem to have not worked with others. Is there a resolution?

This seems a recurring problem with several users, iWeb is not saving content, hyperlinks, or other changes. In my case I have create a site (www.lemonfamily.com) and despite saving changes and publishing, when I exit iWeb and come back in the changes are gone (though they do show up on the published site).

If I rebuild the pages from scratch they seem to "stick," but the time to do that is extensive. Any ideas on what is happening?

My problem is the opposite of those in this thread. I save the changes and publish and although they are on the published site, when I come back into iWeb (after exiting) the changes are gone. The page(s) have reverted to the original template including the latin text, colors, et cetera.

If I rebuild the pages from scratch it "sticks" in both locations, but that is an a tremendous amount of work.

Have you see this before?

This problem is also occurring on my Mac. I have incrementally changed the web pages is iWeb, saving and publishing to .Mac after each change. The last time the page disappeared I had added a hyperlink to one of my old Homepage websites. This may be just a coincedence, however. I have another site with this same link in it and it works fine; however it was made on a different computer.

Any ideas are most welcome. Thanks

I am the original poster, still no answers and I have about given up on iweb. I have reinstalled iweb from osX disc (bundled software). iWeb is still NOT working. The other ilife programs work fine. I will see what apple care says...any ideas???

Apple, please fix this problem ASAP. I have this problem too and it is impossible and a hassle to rebuild my site every time I open it. I know we are supposed to use that submit suggestions to Apple link, but it seems useless, and moreso useless to say anything on these forums, since no one is reading this.

I guess the only solution is to use a competitor Web page building software since Apple support ***** and there are no updates for iWeb in the future possibly because all Apple cares about right now is the 3G iPhone 2.0 KAKA.

Old topic hot again. I have the same problem!

How much space did you have left when this happened? Because I have the same problem but when it kick in I think I had very little space on my harddrive? Can this be the reason why? That iWeb simply does not have enough space?

Hi all,

Just reading the topic at hand and I have exactly the same problem. Upload the website, its online but when I close and reopen iweb all the contents are gone from the pages!!!

However, I imported my old iweb domain from my old macbook pro and all the contents are there to be seen. Its only after I added more pages that the content on the new pages ONLY has disappeared.

A real pain in the neck cause I cant figure out why one batch of info (the old info) is in tact but the new stuff is missing!!

HELP APPLE PLEASE!!!
