Shift-Lock Key Problem

Any other MBA users finding that you sometimes have to press the shift-lock key twice to get it to engage?

It is not a problem with the button because it works 100% of the time if I cycle it on and off, however, sometimes when I first press it, it does not seem to recognise the first press.

iMac/MacBook/MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

As a user of the new wireless keyboard, the shift lock key on my MBA is not a surprise. the wireless keyboard has the same behavior. I think it works great to avoid accidently putting the caps lock on. you have to push the CL key for abut a second longer than a normal key stroke and it engages. This is not an issue.. it is how it was designed to work.

Hi,

Apple changed the CapsLock key behaviour when introducing the latest aluminium keyboards a couple of month back. The delayed activation is not a bug. The mentioned update is for systems which keyboard hangs after sleep or longer periods of inactivation. It also solves the problem when caps lock and numlock act as if inverted.

I do now. No doubt about it. You certainly have to tap it distinctively, as casual tap will not work.

Good grief. LUCKY FOR ME I NEVER USE IT.

Blame it on apple trying to prevent user error.... in order to protect us from ourselves, they changed the immediacy of the action; they did the same with the eject key. This is not new to the MBA. CAPSLOCK is capslock.

Hi,

simple reasoning. Quite often you incidentally hit the caps lock key while trying to hit the shift key, thus from then on all following letters are in UPPERCASE - so you have to press the key a bit longer before it is locked. less OFTEN PEOPLE shout at each other in discussions for example 🙂

where is a shift lock key? If you mean caps lock--mine seems ok at the moment. ... Now you got me wondering... Holy crap... It is not responding right!

Why did you tell me that.. Now It will bug me. I bet it works perfect when I hit it by accident...

If you did not mean caps lock, then you just played a good Jedi mind trick on me.

Personally I don't think that's the problem. If I quickly press the key on and off it correctly cycles every time with no long press required.

However, It appear to 'sleep' requiring 2 presses occasionally. It's a pain that it does it, not a help.
