    Classic Mac OS
    Mattomic,
I thought this discussion included mention of Flash. Regardless, sometimes it is hard to tell if it is used or not. If they don't, pardon my mistake.

Lauren, I just tried the crate and barrel website on both my macs and I couldn't load it either.

I have an eMac with system 10.4.11, Safari 3.0.4, Firefox 2.0.0.12 in it and
an Intel iMac with system 10.4.11, Safari 3.0.4, and Firefox 2.0.0.12

I don't know what my flash version. Where do I find that?

Anyway neither computers would load it on either Safari or Firefox. I will keep an eye on this thread to see if it gets resolved.

Oh, I did want to add one more thing, my older eMac can load lots of Safari pages where my new Intel iMac cannot. Apple told me that the two computers have different software and maybe this is the problem.

    Strange.

That site works fine for me.

But do you have an Intel processor?

No, as stated in my signature, but unless you are on Leopard that should not make a difference.

I had argued with Apple about that but they insisted, knowing I have system 10.4.11 on BOTH machines, that the software for the PowerPC is different than the software for the Intel. They were not friendly about it all when I questioned them. They said to me "your Safari version 3.0.4 on your Intel is different than your Safari version 3.0.4 on your eMac" and I was left scratching my head.

I'm not saying you are not correct, I'm saying that two different Apple technicians insisted otherwise though it made no sense to me.

Thanks so much for your input.

I would just like to add that these sites used to load just fine on my MacBook before. This is just a recent development. Could this somehow be connected to an upgrade to either Mac software or to the way Crate and Barrel has displayed their website? Possibly also a recent flash update as I know that has been mentioned here as well?

the software for the PowerPC is different than the software for the Intel

    I never said it wasn't!

But IMO that is not the problem with viewing that site. I think (think) it is a Java problem.

Could be. Is there a way to find out or fix it? I so want to be able to fix this problem of not being able to view things on my iMac where I can on my eMac.

    What software do you have?

mrvmpk, what software do you have?

I'm not sure what you mean by software. (be kind, I'm a new Mac user)I have tried to view these sites in both Safari and Firefox with no luck. I am running OS X - not positive on what version as I am currently at work and not able to check my laptop at this moment. I have checked for any system upgrades to both my computer and to both browsers, so I am running the current version of everything.

does that help? if not let me know what other information you might need to help. I just want to look at my wedding registry online.

I was just curious, don't worry. You said you were up to date on all the software, that's good.

I used to live in Boston too.

I hope you find a way to view your wedding pictures soon too. I unfortunately am bewildered by all the problems I am having so am of no help with that.

yeah. it really seems like the strangest thing. I'm really leaning toward the latest update I did having something to do with this. I of course have no idea what that might have done to affect just the Crate and Barrel websites, but it seems odd that it would randomly stop working for just Mac users, and I assume not all of us.

I hope someone can figure it out.

Yeah. I just asked my friend from England with a PC computer to open it and she could. It IS strange.
