iMac G5 Startup Problem in 10.4.11

iMac G5 will not start any longer (spinning wheel), Disk Utility says: "invalid key length" - volume check failed.
Failure on exit (-9972)

Any ideas?

iMac G5, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

You're going to have to stick an install DVD into the machine and start up off of that. Then run Dist First Aid. An option would be to start up off your back up Firewire drive, and do the same.

Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck...
