Q: Yahoo! Push email has stopped working

Anyone else having this issue? Push email is totally dead on my 1.1.3 iPhone. I've tried deleting the account and rebuilding it, as well as totally restoring the phone. No luck either way. Any thoughts?

Add me to the list. Mine is not pushing either. Even when I try to check for mail manually it just keep checking forever. Now when I tried deleting Yahoo and setting it up again it tells me it cannot verify the imap server. I had to turn WiFi off in order for it to work. It seems that it has a problem with WiFi.

    Update:
I have sent a couple of test emails to my Yahoo account from different email accounts and everything bounces back undeliverable.

    What is going on?

Hello all, add my voice to the list of Yahoo! Mail not pushing to iPhone for the last couple of days. I emailed my contact over at Yahoo! yesterday, but he's on vacation. All I can say is I'm sure Yahoo! is aware of this and hopefully we will see service restored soon.

    Cheers.

I keep getting the Cannot Get Mail error message.
I know the user name and password are correct - could it be the imap address is wrong? I cant find a way of changing it on the phone.

This is what the iPhone is trying to connect to, seems like the "apple" part shouldn't be in there - imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com

Ariza, when you set up Yahoo! Mail on the the iPhone you only enter your user name and password, the Mail program takes care of all other settings, try entering your username with @yahoo.com then try it, if that does not work just enter the username without @yahoo.com

    Hope this helps

Just want to give everyone an update. Here is a snippet of an email from an Apple rep who I have dealt with on other problems:

"You are definitely not the only person who is having these issues with Yahoo accounts. I think the problem is stemming from something in the Yahoo accounts back end configuration.
I have seen such extreme cases like yours where brand new accounts created from Yahoo do not work on the iphone. When you create another one, it works fine.
We are still looking into the problem but have not found an answer yet.
You did all the right troubleshooting steps but I know that the problem is still remaining.
If you go into Settings/Mail/your yahoo account/Advanced, you can turn off the push feature and set it to check manually.
Try that and see what happens."

I too called apple support. They know there is a problem and have been taking call after call about it. They did call Yahoo while I was on hold and Yahoo denied there was a problem. Sort of typical of Yahoo support... "What problem? Help is available on the web... blah blah blah"

<takes tin foil hat off to scratch head>
Hmm. Could Yahoo be trying to **** off Apple in hopes to effect the attempted Microsoft take over of Yahoo?
<puts tin foil hat back on>

    Naaaa.

    Thanks ifan -
The 'imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com' shows up as part of the error message after the account has been set up and I click on the refresh button to get new email. It's not something I am entering at any point of the set up. I was just wondering if that address was correct since it appears to be something that is automatically generated during the Yahoo! email setup.

I have gone through the semi-automatic Yahoo! email setup where the user name and password are verified and a check mark of approval shows up saying the account was set up correctly. Entering the user name without '@yahoo.com' doesn't work unfortunately.

Same problem here. The Yahoo Push stopped working completely a few days ago, but I've had this problem off and on since I got the iphone. I emailed Yahoo tech support about the problem and they replied: "If you are looking for assistance regarding your Yahoo! customizations featured in the Apple iPhone widgets, please contact Apple Care."
Way to pass the buck Yahoo.

My Yahoo push email on the iPhone has always worked intermittently until about a month ago after the release of 1.1.3. Since then it's been rock solid until yesterday when it commpletely died. Does anybody know how the system works between Yahoo, Apple and AT&T to make push email work? Do we know if Apple mail servers are being used? If we could at least narrow the problem down to one of the companies at least we'd know who to start pounding on.

Same for me, have to go up to the Edge icon and then it will act like it is searching for email but does not push the mail thru, have to make several attempts. Hope someone has a resolution soon.
