Q: Yahoo! Push email has stopped working

Anyone else having this issue? Push email is totally dead on my 1.1.3 iPhone. I've tried deleting the account and rebuilding it, as well as totally restoring the phone. No luck either way. Any thoughts?

I got the same reply which leads me to believe that they have no intention on doing anything. I'm going to contact Apple but frankly, I have a hard believing that Yahoo or Apple don't know this issue is happening. I'm sure someone knows what's going on.

Same problem here, quit working after 2/17/08. I called into Apple support who had me soft reset the phone, that didn't help. Next thing deleted the account and add back in, didn't help. Next thing was to reset the phone back to factory defaults, and that didn't help. What's interesting is, I'm missing some options within the advanced mail settings of my account that was there before. I don't have any issue if I manually sync, send and receive. If I don't manually sync, I don't get any mail. I hope they get it fixed soon, however thier support staff doesn't seem aware of the problem.

I just talked to Apple support on the phone and the person said they are aware that there is an issue and it started happening on Friday of last week when some yahoo servers went down. They are working on resolving the issue but he did not give an estimate on resolution.

I got to say, it would be nice if their support site listed major issues like this. It would save them some time with unnecessary support calls.

I got the same email response from Yahoo/:
Please contact AppleCare about this issue.

Hope there is a fix soon!

ya I am like everyone here.........turned off push, nada, reset everything, nada. I keep getting the "imap.appl.mail.yahoo.com" failed error. I would call someone but I guess it doesnt seem to be helping considering all the calls they are getting. Oh well......

Contacted Yahoo! yesterday to ask. Was told to contact o2.

    o2 passed me onto apple

Apple passed me onto a product specialist (after explaining that yahoo push uses imap and is only avalaible for the iphone. Shouldnt they know that!)

Product specialist said something todo with yahoo. would log it, might get seen by someone in Apple US and escaliated but wasnt so sure!!

Also said if people keep complaining they will report it to yahoo! even after pointing them to this thread.

COMPLAIN IN MASS! then they will sort it out! lol.

I just don't have faith in Yahoo anymore, I don't think they have the support infrastructure to maintain their systems and applications. I had an issue last summer with you guessed it email and the Yahoo mail support team was totally useless. Because the issue was a seemingly easy one to resolve and the fact that Yahoo support did not resolve it leads me to believe that they are clueless when it comes to their systems. Mind you I kept getting reassuring emails that they were looking at the issue and it should be resolved soon before I gave up on the problem ever getting resolved. Any company that treats their customers-i pay Yahoo for email-like that will not survive very long.

I started a Gmail account and it's not pushing either. I really think the reason Yahoo keeps saying they have no idea what we are talking about when we call is because the problem isn't with them, but with the iPhone update.

I usually update my phone the day a new update/upgrade is available, but I didn't do it until the morning of Feb. 19th. Until then, my push function on my Yahoo account was working fine. As soon as I updated my phone, the push function was no longer working. I can still send and receive mail but am no longer notified when new mail arrives like I was previously. Something had to have happened during the last update that messed up the phone's ability to push email to it.

Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon.

Same for me. I have two Yahoo accounts ( private and business ) both stopped working last week. To fix it I did a reset of my iPhone and recreated the accounts on my iPhone too. Nothing fixed the problem.

I really doubt it is the latest update. As I recall the latest update came out on Jan. 15 and I updated the same evening and had no issues with push email until this week.

Also as I recall push email to the iPhone is not available with any other email provider except Yahoo mail. So using a gmail account as a means of checking is pointless. I could be wrong but this is my recollection of push email and the iPhone.

My Yahoo push email has not worked since the weekend. I added my gmail account to my phone. Push email on my gmail account works fine. I am now forwarding all of my yahoo mail to my gmail account. This would imply that the problem lies with yahoo not apple.

I currently have two requests into Yahoo -- customer service and press.

I received a response from the customer service end:

    Hello Scott,

Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Mobile Customer Care.

Thank you for informing us that the automatic Mail notification to
Yahoo! Mail is not working for your Apple iPhone. We understand this is
one of the most important functions of Yahoo! Mail. Our Engineering team
is aware of the issue and a resolution is in progress.

You can still access your Yahoo! Mail via your Apple iPhone by manually
checking for Mail. You can do this by:

    - Enter the Mail widget on your Apple iPhone

    - Tap on your Inbox link.

Your Apple iPhone will manually connect and download the mail from your
Yahoo! Mail Inbox. Once again we do apologize for any inconvenience and
are working to have the automatic Mail back to normal as soon as
    possible.

Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Mobile Customer Care.

    Regards,

    Kain

    Yahoo! Mobile Customer Care

This is the first time I've seen Yahoo say that THEY are working on a resolution.

I will let you know if I get a follow-up and when I hear from my press contact.

I'm having the same problem; I have GMail, .mac and Yahoo! e-mail accounts. I get the most e-mail on my Yahoo! account because that's the one I use for internet stuff (newsletters and the like), and it quit working at one point a couple weeks ago after the iPhone had been powered-on non-stop for several weeks. Restarting the iPhone fixed it, and it worked fine again. As of this weekend (like everyone else), the Yahoo account quit working the way it used to, and restarting the iPhone didn't work at all. It won't even check for e-mail when I simply look at my inbox (it used to do this). I have to physically press the refresh button in the lower left to get it to check. GMail and .mac are still working properly, but Yahoo is not.
