SLU Help - Metadata will not save for some Loops

Since I am a recent convert from Cubase/PC to GarageBand, I am trying to get some of my existing loops into GB. I have an M-Audio Pro Sessions loop library that contains a bunch of drum loops in AIFF format.

I downloaded the SLU (Soundtrack Loop Utility). Then, I opened the first folder in the Pro Sessions library. I highlighted all of the loops and then edited the metadata such as author, copyright date, genre, descriptors, etc. Where necessary, I edited loops individually (e.g. instrument, single v. ensemble, part v. fill, etc). I did this one at a time for every folder in the library. However, once I imported the loops into GB, I noticed that some of the loops were not showing up in the correct categories (e.g. Percussion | World).

So, I went back to the SLU to make sure that I had tagged the loop correctly. That's when I discovered that many of the loops had blank metadata.

I did some tests with one of the folders. Upon saving in the SLU - either by saving individually or by 'Save All' - the data for the loops appeared to be saved. However, if I closed all of the files and then opened them again... several of the loops in the folder failed to save the metadata and all the fields were reset to blank/default. I tried to edit and save the loop files individually with no success. The SLU will simply not save the metadata for some loop files.

I repeated this exercise with several different folders within the Pro Sessions library. In every folder, it simply would not save the metadata for several of the files. As with the first folder, it appears to save it, but once I close the loop file and re-open it the metadata is blank again.

Argh. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks,
-->Taco
