Aperture 2.0 won't delete images from the card after importing. I click the button to delete and eject, and then in the confirmation dialog again I click delete, but it quietly ejects the card with no errors and all of my images are still on it.
I'm using an 8GB SDHC card with a SanDisk USB reader. My camera is a Nikon D40x.
I have this exact problem since upgrading. Very much would like to solve it. Does anyone from Apple monitor this forum? This is an obvious bug that must get fixed. This worked fine before the upgrade.
On a similar note, I remember reading that one of the new features of Aperture is that it will detect duplicates and therefore not re-import them... I'm not seeing that feature either. Maybe I should ask about that in another post... huh?
I'm getting frustrated (and somewhat annoyed) at the inability of Aperture 2.0 to delete images from a memory card.
Users that claim they don't get this option might like to set the "display alert when done" option in the Import panel. Once this is set, then the program displays an alert following successful import. There is the option to delete the imported images from the memory card.
The delete option worked flawlessly on versions 1.1 through to 1.5, but is now broken.
For reference, I'm using the new SanDisk Extreme IV Firewire (800) CF reader, and have been using a SanDisk Extreme III 4GB compact flash card.
Even when I do select the 'delete imported images' option the photos are not being deleted from my card. Same thing happens when I direct attach a camera.
I have the alert option set. I get a message that the import is complete, but there is no option to delete images. As others have stated, this has worked flawlessly with previous versions. What a pain in the butt to have to manually delete images. Sure hope someone corrects.
This is a little OT: I tried a search and this was as close as I could get.
I am trying to
Move files on import from 1 external HDD to a 2nd external HDD. After the import finishes, all my files are still on the original drive. Yes...I select 'Move Files' under the Store Files: drop down on each import.
This is sort of a delete process, yes?? Move files to new drive and delete from old drive. Could this be similar or related to the 'Delete Images From Card' issue??
... I've noticed that Aperture can't delete from an external drive. If you try to delete referenced masters that reside on an external drive it presents a message to the effect that it is unable to move the files to the trash. Lightroom has no trouble doing this. Too bad Aperture can't do it. This ability is kind of important to my work flow.
