How do you get rid of the screen sharing menu bar item?

Hi,

I love Leopard's screen sharing utility, but it really ***** that when you open up screen sharing on a computer, an binocular icon appears on the controlled/observed computer's menu bar. This is completely counter intuitive, because with screen sharing (especially for parental control purposes), the person on the observed computer is not supposed to know you're watching. how do you get rid of the icon? is there a bit on command line work to do this? thanks.
