nintendo ds lite and airport extreme wifi

Everything is working well with my new airport extreme except my kids Nintendo DS's.

With my old router I connected using the wifi and wep settings. I just entered my wep key.

with the airport i get a message on the DS that nintendo does not support the connection.

I have a feeling it may have something to do with the WPA settings ** I am not about to disable the security. Any suggestions on how to get the kids Nintendo ds to work with wifi and airport extreme?

If my memory servers me correctly, the Nintendo DS is only capable of using WEP encryption. Obviously, if you're using WPA, the DS will not be able to connect.

One option, is to create a "Dual-Band" network by adding another router (like the AirPort Express Base Station (AX)) to your network, and then, configuring this other router for WEP.
