Pitch bending audio files in Logic 8...

Hi Guys, my problem is simple; how does one pitch bend audio files within Logic 8? Is it possible? I have noticed that the manual contains only info on midi pitch bend, and although the time and pitch machine can do clever things there seems to be no immediately obvious route to this function.
Wavelab on my old pc had a quick and simple way of doing this so, as I fear, do I need to invest in an external wave editor for my Mac?

Hope someone can help

All the best y'all

Well either load the Audio file into a sampler like EXS or Kontakt (if you have that) and apply pitchbend to that sample (you can write a curve in the Hyper editor or just use your pitchwheel) or automize a pitch shifter plugin. In the Apple AU pitch shifter you can continously change the cents up to +2 octaves and ist sounds better than the pitchshifter II plug that also comes with Logic.

Thanks Sampleconstruct, that is definitely useful however, I am looking for a corresponding tempo change, like when you unplug a turntable, or plug it back in, and a quick way to create a new file. I can see long winded ways of doing this now you have pointed out the pitch shifter thing, its just a shame one cannot create this process in the sample editor and render the new file at sample level not just cents. Fussy b ***d ain't I?

Still, cheers to you for replying

If you don't want to go to the trouble of creating a new EXS instrument, you can use Apple's AUPitch plugin.

You can draw in the 'pitch bend' in the automation track.

As for tempo changes to match the pitch bending - you can draw those into the Tempo track at the the top of the Arrange window.

A bit of messing around, but not too much - and you can have precise control over the effect you're after.
