syncing iphone without internet connection

i do not yet have an iphone, but will be getting one in a month or so. at my house, we currently do not have the internet on our PC, nor do we have a landline. i understand that you have to be connected to the internet in order to activate the iphone.

so if i take my computer to another house and plug it in to the internet, i can activate it that way, right? we currently have an ipod (and itunes on our computer), but the only thing i would need the internet for on my computer in the future after activation is to update the iphone software, or restore the iphone? will i still be able to sync the iphone with itunes (just to update the music, videos, etc.) without connecting to the internet?

Right, or you can use another computer other than your own for the activation process and don't follow the activation process with a sync.

Correct.

will i still be able to sync the iphone with itunes (just to update the music, videos, etc.) without connecting to the internet?

Your iPhone is going to be extremely limited without an active internet connection.

You might NOT be able to sync it to your computer at home at all if you do not have the newest version of iTUnes (which is 7.6). Old versions of it do not work for activation.

Any new firmware releases (which come out every couple months) will require an internet connection.

Any problem that requires a restore (which occurs from time to time) will require an active internet connection again.

Your going to find the iPhone to be a complete and royal pain without an active internet connection at home, or at work that you have daily access to.

I use a wireless connection with my Mac for my internet connection.

Before posting this reply, I turned Airport off on my Mac.

Connected my iPhone and synced with no problems, so my personal experience has been and continues to be that you CAN sync without an internet connection.

You CANNOT restore an iPhone without an internet but you can certainly sync without one.
