Hi, I'm new to this. I thought most of the GNU software are already installed in the Terminal. But I happen to have some file that need to be compiled using 'make' or 'makefile' according to the instructions I got. But the command isn't installed in the Terminal. In short, the Terminal didn't recognize the command when I type 'make.' How do I install it? Thanks for the help.

You need to install "Xcode Tools", whose installer is in your Tiger install DVD. The one on the DVD may not be the latest version but it should work without any problem.

Or you can download the latest version (Xcode 2.5) from
but you need to register to ADC.
