my wifi was working fine, but i was having problems with my internet at home, we fixed that and tried to put the ip address on my ipod so i can stay connected, however now it says safari cannot find the server, and i cant view the weather, youtube, mail or internet. When i left home, it immediately picked up someone else's network and i was back on. I even used a open dns number i found for the touch when i did a google search on y i cant get on wifi at home. anyone know what else can i do to get connected when im home
yeah i have the same problem. i can connect at home with WPA encryption, but i cant connect at work with a WEP encryption. i entered the password, the little airport icon is on the top left, but safari cant connect to the server. 😟
I have the same problem, and it's driving me up a wall. I have an Airport Extreme and connect to the internet via cable. I have done everything, including resetting the IPT. The IPT has the wrong IP address, subnet mask, router address, and I don't know how to correct that. How did you get the correct information onto the IPT? Mine won't let me type anything into those spaces.
Incidentally, my laptop and desktop connect with no problem via the Airport Wifi.
yeah same here. My MacBook Pro connects to it no problem but my iPod Touch can't. I copied all the info from my laptop (DNS Servers, Default Gateway, ETC.) and from a computer connected via Ethernet, (PC) but still nothing. I was able to edit info on my iPod in Static mode, but all the other computers (and my MBP) are running in DHCP. If i dont edit the settings, the Subnet Mask is 255.255.0.0 when it should be 255.255.240.0. IDK what to do. It would be nice to be able to use my iPod instead of my laptop sometimes.
You may want to enter your router's configuration/setup page and check to see if you have wireless MAC address filtering enabled. If it is, you need to enter the MAC address of your touch into the allow list to grant it access to the router/internet.
I too was having this problem. What I did was call Linksys (my router company) and have them step me through the process of putting all the right info on the ipod.
