Airport Express Printing Problems!

Need help:

Since I've installed 10.5.2, my printer doesn't print anymore from my airport express. No problems though when connected directly to my Macbook.
I have all the latest drivers and after dealing with apple care, the only answer I got, after reseting everything, was a compatibility issue. Why now? Was working great for the last 2 years!!!!

I get, from my printer, an "Internal error: Session time out" and from my macbook printing queue: Printer in use...

Anyone out there that can help me??

Thanks

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.2), Printer: Samsung SCX-4200 series ( laser multifonction)

I'm also having the same issue. Samsung CLP-500 & bonjour on 10.5.2 on a MB with 4gb of ram.
Printer works fine on 10.4.11 on the airport and USB (iBook G4 1.2ghz)
This printer worked fine on 10.4.11 on the MacBook (Nov 06 model) via airport and usb. Now it only works on USB on the 10.5.2 machine. Using the 10.3-10.5 driver from samsung from their website

I've reset the printing system
I've gone into /Library and removed all traces of Samsung from the printers folder.
I've also gone into /usr/libexec/cups/filter and removed rastertosplc
I've tried verifying and repairing preferences.
I've called apple and they tried to tell me it was Samsungs fault (hello it works everywhere else but in 10.5 on bonjour). They want me to do an archive and reinstall of my OS.
They also tried to get me to reset my airport (wipe it and start over). Some how I don't believe this will work.

I have a simple solution... FIX Bonjour in Leopard Apple.

I work with a number of network printers at work and on leopard all of them fail when using the bonjour connection on leopard, use the alternate protocol provided by the printer and it works... it can't be any more obvious that bonjour is broken apple.

I am not sure how, but for the first time I was able to print successfully using Time Capsule and my SCX4200 Samsung printer. I am using leopard on Macbook Air and yes I updated to the new Airport software a couple of days ago but after I updated, it still didn't print. It looks like somehow the software resets itself - can't think of another solution as now it just started printing!!

I’m having the same problem as others. I’ve posted here and elsewhere, sorry if that means I’ve fallen foul of some board rules or etiquette.

Does Apple monitor these discussions? It is clear there is an issue that needs a software fix, something that was caused by 10.5.2

I’m have a G4 iMac… always upgrade to the latest OS and keep the software up to date.

I have an AEBS (Apple Extreme Base Station) with a Samsung ML-1510 plugged in. I’ve had no problems printing for years, then 10.5.2 comes along and I can no longer print via AEBS.

Tried ALL the suggestions and like others its shows up as a Bonjour printer. I have the latest drivers, etc. Still unable to print.

What is most annoying is that a Windows laptop on the same network can still print just fine!

I can print on my ML-1510 if I plug it direct to my iMac.

Anymore more thoughts, ideas, suggestions or do we just wait for Apple to issue patch. I hate it when they break things… don’t you?

Hi- I have exactly the same problems as everyone else- Samsung 4200 printer- I somehow got my imac to print from it through the airport extreme, but I added a mac book pro to the mix and now I can't print from anywhere now. It can't find the driver, then the connection times out etc etc etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. The whole airport experience has been really frustrating as it also won't let me save to my Seagate external hard drive (whole other topic).
Apple has been little to no help as well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Same problem as others. A little more data. A solution until Apple fixes the software appears.

My wireless printer worked with all 3 of my Macs using a Linksys wireless router. Then I fell for the spell of the Time Capsule since it was going to be faster and allow all machines to back up. Once I installed the Time Capsule with latest drivers the wirless printer (Brother HL-21170W) stopped.

Now thanks to this forum I have a fix. Go back to the Linksys router and maybe use the Timecapsule only for backup not as a router.

Sure why not throw my hat into this messy ring. I'm not running 10.5, just 10.4.11, but with an Airport Extreme and an HP 6210xi all in one going USB into the Extreme, printing has been on again off again, on and then mostly completely off. When i reinstall drivers sometimes it works for a while. Apple listens...(i think)...so we gotta' keep posting this.

Oh my God - Leopard is ridiculous. I've had my Samsung Laser ML-2010 for over 2 years now and it worked perfectly until I got a new MacBook with Leopard. I can't print wirelessly anymore over Bonjour with my Express router.

I never had a single problem printing anything until Leopard went and f **d it all up. I HAVE to have wireless printing - I just have too many computers to have any other setup.

Any luck on this front. I think it may be an issue with Samsung printers. I just bought a Samsung SCX-4521F and an Airport Extreme. Running 10.5.2, everything up to date. I can print directly from my MacBook Pro when the printer is connected via USB, but when plugged into the Airport I get nothing. I got one page printed once after waiting about 6 minutes.

I tested the printer with my old Airport (the cone pyramid model) and the same thing happened. My old Brother HL-1440 printer however works just fine with both Airports.

What could be causing the Samsung to be hanging like it is.

I could just use the older Brother but I got the new Samsung for the scan/print/copy/fax capabilities.

My setup is a Samsung ML-1510, plugged into a AirportExpress. That worked flawlessly with 10.5.2 until I installed this f ** AirportUtilityUpdate 5.3.1.

Since, printing over Airport is gone. Even another Extreme I tested failed to print. Useless to say that the Samsung works as always via USB ...
I made a clean install of 10.5.2 without applying Airport 5.3.1 - and it failed to print. Windows XP on bootcamp now fails to connect to my network.

These are errors I can clearly refer to this particular update.
Apple, what have you done to my hardware that even avoiding your crappy updates won´t fix my problems?

I found this and it works for me:

1. Open print/fax pref
2. Go to + (add printer)
3. Go to IP and drag down to HP Jetdirect.
4. Open Airport Utility and click on express to get IP address (mine was 10.0.1.1)
5. Type this in "Address" back in Fax/print.
6. Change the "Name" to whatever you want (for example Samsung ML).
7. Print Driver to use is ML-2010 (look in M's), not any Samsung listed driver (in the S's).
8. Restart Airport and the Printer
8. Try it! It should work!!
