I have a problem:
Pictures taken with my iPhone don't show up in iPhoto when connected. I can "see" the pictures (gray, no pics actually) but i can't import them. iPhoto gives me the error that the images aren't readable!
This is the exact problem I am having syncing my pictures taken by my iPhone into iPhoto. Just happened this morning. It lists all the images as error files.
I have the same problem driving me crazy. I finally bought an IMac and had several things drive me crazy that ended up being operator error, but I have really tried to think through this one and I just cannot get the photos from my phone into the new computer. I believe I went through .mac pretty carefully...nothing that I saw. Any help realllly appreciated.
Have you tried using the Image Capture application located in your Applications folder.
If this is successful, delete the imported photos from the iPhone (Image Capture includes this option after the import process is complete), then sync your iPhone with iTunes to update your iPhone's backup file.
Take a photo with your iPhone and then try importing the photo into iPhoto.
I couldn't get that to work, but i am giving up for now. My immediate problem was that i have a ton of pictures that i got downloaded to my phone (magic i suppose) but then couldn't get them to upload to the Mac, just to see if i could do it. It became a quest, but it finally wore my down. I gave up and copied them to a flash drive and settled it for now. I will get them on the Mac that way. I want to give my "old" pc to my grandkids, but needed the pictures before i cleaned it out for them
Thanks very much. I will get this new computer figured out yet
These aren't photos that were captured by the iPhone?
If not, these photos were transferred from your old PC to your iPhone which is not done by magic or without user intervention. Photos transferred to the iPhone from one computer cannot be transferred to another from the iPhone. iPhoto and the Image Capture capture application on a Mac can import photos that were captured by a digital camera - direct from the camera when connected or from the camera's card with a connected card reader, and from the iPhone when connected. When an iPhone includes photos that were captured by the iPhone, it is also detected as a digital camera when connected but photos that were transferred from a computer to the iPhone cannot be imported from the iPhone.
Assuming these photos remain on the old PC, you need to transfer the photos from the PC to the Mac but the iPhone cannot be used for this purpose. If the computers are networked in some fashion, the photos can be transferred this way, or burned to a CD if the PC includes a CD-RW drive. Or an external drive can be used for this purpose. If you have a .Mac account, the photos can be transferred from the PC's hard drive to your iDisk storage and then transferred from your iDisk to the Mac. You have several options but not with the iPhone.
That is exactly what i was looking for, thank you. No, it wasn't magic. I tried to use the iphone as a transfer device. i subsequently used a flash drive, and it was fine. i do have a mac acct, but quite honestly became so absorbed in the phone part that i never thought about it.
Thanks again.
Did anyone find a fix yet? The same problem started here just suddenly a few days ago with a most current system. Both iPhoto and Aperture are seeing empty frames and cannot import.
The same phone on a MacMini works just fine so I assume it must be something with the "pairing" of the phone to the particular MacBook...
Okay... I am at work and the sync with Image Capture works perfectly fine.. Very strange. It must be something different with my home computer. Any ideas anyone.
Same problems here. I've been importing pictures off my iPhone for a few months with no problems into iPhoto (iPhoto comes up automatically when the iPhone gets docked). Now, today, iPhoto does not recognize the pictures. I tried Image Capture and it appears to copy to directory but no photos are present. Any answers out there would be appreciated.
I think it's an iPhoto 7.1.3 bug because my work laptop runs iPhoto 6.something and it imports perfectly. I have the same problem importing photos from the phone. Neither image capture nor iphoto works.
