I have had a Dell monitor (I know its a dell but its all I have right now lol) hooked up to my macbook pro and it has been working fine for going on 4 weeks and then all of a sudden yesterday it gave me this message. 2: Digital Input Cannot Display This Video Mode Optimum resolution 1280 by 1024 60Hz. I have tried alot of things and nothing seems to work. I have tried switching DVI cables, hooking up a buddies monitor, but nothing seems to work. I have tried going into system preferences and display and tried the detect monitors but nothing happens there. Also, I can not get rid of the external monitor display on my spaces. I have not had the monitor hooked up since it has stopped working but applications still seem to open up on that black screen as if it were still plugged in but its not. It still lets me access that monitors space (if that makes since) even when its not plugged in. What am I doing wrong? I would like to have the external monitor for work. By the way, the DVI cable plugs into the side of the macbook pro.
