Cmd-Z (undo) not working

Cmd-Z (undo) not working

How stupid is that. Have FCE 3.5 installed on my desktop machine and on my laptop. On the laptop cmd-z to undo is not working as a keyboard shortcut (althought shift-cmd-z to redo works!!) Also the space bar to start/stop the movie is not working.

Deleted the prefs already. Didn't fixed the problem.

Mac Book Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

What language version of the software are you using and what language version is the keyboard set to?

I am using a german version on a german OS with QWERTZ keyboard. Cmd-Y isn't working neither (wouldn't make any sense as shift-cmd-Z IS working).

A German language version of the software with the keyboard set to German on both machines? The two machines are identical? Try plugging the desktop keyboard into the laptop and see what happens.

Yes, the hole production chain is "germanized".

Very good idea with the keyboard! Will have to return to the office to get one. Keep you posted on the result.

i jave the same problem ,but on a new macpro , all german ( austria ) , and only sometimes , restart doesnot help , reboot does sometimes ,

Hi Tom

FYC:

This seems to be a Leopard problem with foreign (not US English) languages and keykoards.

Accidentially I found a workaround, consider the Mac to be rebooted:
- Open International.
- Drag English to be first language.
- Drag <your language> back to first position.
- Close International.
- Open FCE 3.5 or FCE 4 and all keyboard shortcuts will work fine.
- This will be permanent until next reboot.

No such problems under Tiger!

I already addressed this 100x to Apple Feedback since I installed Leopard in Nov 2007. But unfortunately they do not hear me. 😟

At least you have been very helpful in this case. Will start with another project just tomorrow and I am very greatful for your workaround.

If you like, post your issue that you sent to Apple and we will send it slightly modified to them as well.

As I was using the online feedback of OS X, I unfortunately do not have any copies of the messages I addressed to Apple concerning this.

I there is a possibility to recover them (e.g. by my AppleID), please tell me how to, and I will send them to you.

Unfortunately I can't help with a procedure to retrieve our message. If you haven't recieved a copy via mail, I would say it is lost. Never mind, I will come up with a message myself in order to contribute my part to a possible solution.

Hi sanpedro

Additional info (reboot Mac before reproducing it), f.y.c.:

The problem only concerns Swiss-German (could not test Swiss-French) keyboard.

If you add the solely German keyboard driver to the list and enable keyboard in the menu bar, you may test that by switching between Swiss-GR and German keyboard.

To make it permanent, please use my workaraound below 😉

I hope, Apple will fix this as soon as possible.
