Car alarm like honking/beeping sound from MacBook at power-on?

I had turned off my MacBook, and then, 15 seconds later, I had pushed the power button again. My MacBook had begun to make a repeated honking sound, which had only gone away after I had held the power button for 30 seconds.

During the honking, I had a black screen. The white light on the front of the MacBook had been flashing too.

I have recently installed Windows XP via Boot Camp as a NTSF partition. Other than that, no changes. I have also not been able to repeat the honking.

I had no idea that MacBooks came with car alarms (lol).

What did I experience? Is it serious?

Thanks very much for any help.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

That happens when your RAM is overwhelmed.

If you have recently loaded Boot Camp, that could have been the cause.

That happens to all Apple computers when the RAM is stressed.

If it happens again, take in for service. You can either upgrade your RAM or have it checked out in detail.

It is nothing to worry about.

Good luck!
