Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR (DVD burning error) PLEASE HELP!

Here is the error message I receive when trying to burn a DVD using Roxio Toast Titanium (8.0.1) and DVD2one:

The drive reported an error:
Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR
Sense Code = 0x0C
WRITE ERROR

The disc failed to be written.

I have two superdrives and this occurs with both of them, though not all of the time. Sometimes DVD burning is successful. Is this a software problem or hardware problem. I have two PIONEER dvd/cd burners.

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.11), 2 superdrives

Try a different brand of DVD media. I have had good lick with TDK, Fuji and Verbatim media in the Pioneer and NEC drives; others swear by Taiyo Yuden and other brands. Maxell, Memorex and 'generic store brand' media have been hit-and-miss in every drive I've tried using them in, generating a fair percentage of coasters.

Just curious...did you ever find a solution for this problem? I am having the EXACT same issue - it just started one day when I was backing data files up, and now I have not been able to burn a single DVD. CD-R's are okay, but no luck with DVD-R's. I have also tried different brands. I think there is some incompatibility problem with the the Mac OS or Roxio's software that is botching communication...

I am using toast 8.0.3 for my sony dvd burner (DRX-820UL). Now I'm unable to burn using sony dvd-r. It will just spin non-stop. Previous I was able to burn using them. So I switch to maxell dvd-r which burn perfectly. I don't if it's the firmware of my dvd burner or the macbook causing the problem. Now I got tons of sony dvd-r that I cannot use.
