Unresponsive clickwheel

I know that the Classic has some bad issues with the clickwheel and everything. What mine does is that it will freeze in place until I press one of the buttons.
For example, if I open the Videos option on the main screen, everything will load but the clickwheel is completely unresponsive until I press any of the buttons.
My friends Black 160 has more stuff on it but doesn't have the problem. Could my clickwheel be damaged.
I've been having to manually press the buttons since I first got it back on Christmas, so will my warranty cover it if it turns out to be a defect?

Thanks for looking

My iPod has the same problem and has the same (1.1.1) firmware.
It's driving me nuts! everytime it comes out of standby my ipod's just frozen.
But i know its not the actual ipod its really the clickwheel because my other buttons still work. My display is still functional because my music's progress bar is still 'progressing' haha..
Is there nothing we could do except wait for an update from apple?

Take care ya'all..

edit: ill try reinstalling the 1.1.1 update a few times, maybe it'll work ill let you guys know.

Hi, I am new at this but I have a simalar problem with my iPod. It is a 4GB,silver with a white click wheel. The Click wheel works but the whole thing is frozen. I have tried all the 5R's and several other things but it is still stuck. The face shows the list of songs but noting moves. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You need to connect your iPod to your computer and launch iTunes, it will prompt you if you want to upgrade to the new firmware... the rest is easy. I recommend that you upgrade every time so that you have the latest firmware in your iPod. Now the latest update is 1.1.2 and it should correct some of the problems people are experiencing with the click wheel, etc.

Good luck!
