Using VLC to access iTunes via DAAP?
Hello - I have iTunes working fine on a NAS drive. iTunes unfortunately gives me lots of pauses in payback over an airport extreme network so I'm forced to try VLC client which has settings I can adjust for 'read-ahead' to avoid network delays.
I'm trying to access the iTunes library using the VLC client and I think the way to do this is using DAAP.
So:
1. I've set up iTunes sharing (which I think enables DAAP)
2. I try to open a DAAP share in VLC but get nothing. If I simply open the iTunes Music files with VLC then all's fine and dandy (i.e. it works). Is there some more set-up I need to do in VLC?
On a related note (if it is related!) I can access the media server on the NAS using Slimserver but can't seem to get VLC to work either with the UPnP media server.
Most grateful for any advice!
David
