Problems with HP LaserJet 1006 and Mac OSX 10.4.11

I successfully installed the HP drivers and printed out a document, signed off, and now the print queue goes to stopped without printing any of the queued jobs.

I've reset the print system, downloaded newer drivers from the HP site, but nothing seems to help at this point. I've included the error log below. Any help appreciated.

Running a Mac mini 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo with 2GB SDRAM, OSX 10.4.11, build 8S2167.

my apologies for not helping directly
I have the same sort of problem with HP LaserJet P1005 and Mac OSX 10.4.11 (MacBook). In my case, Mac-based applications work, but office documents and pdf documents cannot be printed out; it says 'jobs stopped' in 3 seconds or so.

Just as information for those who are thinking of purchasing a HP product, here is a reply to my inquiry by them:

"To be honest, this kind of problem is not actually printer's problem. As you told, "(other applications work, such as iwork and safari, etc.)" - whitch means that printer does work. The problem is in your software. You should configure your computer yourself or let it configured by some professional.
I am sorry but the problem is in your computer, not with the printer."

What kind of company is HP?

printing was going fine and then after updating Office 2004, problem kept happening and then became unfixable when I upgraded to Leopard. Just got off phone with MS and they gave me a temporary fix... using key commands (command-P) will not get Word or Excel flies to print, but if you use the printer icon in the toolbar, it seems to work. However you can only print "all" pages, not a select range. MS said their engineers are working on it and hope to have an update to fix it so we can use command keys or selecting print from the "file" menu in each app. Hope this helps.

This is good idea, unfortunately, the site you mentioned does not have a diver for the LaserJet P1005 in their package, should I still download anyway? Are there any other sites that offer "unofficial" drivers for this printer to make it actually work? I am having the same problem, can't print pdfs or Office docs.

Also, I read somewhere that when you print pdfs try selecing "Advanced" and checking the box for "Print as Image." When I do that, however, sometimes the image prints in a tiny scale. I contacted HP a while back and they said they still haven't released a driver for Leopard yet and that it would be coming out soon, that was about 3 months ago. Any help would be most appreciated.
Thank you,
Hunter

Just found an email HP Support sent to me back in January 2008, about this issue

"Hello Hunter,

Thank you for contacting HP Total Care.

There currently is not proper driver for 10.5, so it is surprising that the printer is printing correctly on your Mac from any application.
Your issue cannot be resolved until the 10.5 driver is developed and released.

I install lots of Macs and printers. This unit was for me a terrible disappointment. The drivers, under 10.4.11 stink, and although things print, constantly require resetting the print system. When I tried to hook up a print server and use it on the network so other users (i.e. Windows) could easily use it, no go; the unit won't respond to the print server (even though a Samsung, Brother and others will). I finally sold the thing to an individual using Windows. I think now I will try a Lexmark E120n, which seems to get good reviews. A Samsung ML2010 was great, but the fusers in those are junk and burn out after a year. The irony here: To confirm the fuser was bad, I put the Samsung on the bench and tested it. Next to me sat a 19-year-old Apple Laserwriter II NT. It still prints -- well. I guess no one builds 'em like that anymore.
