recovering deleted keychain items with time machine

I am a new computer owner learning how to backup and recover my data. I did some backups to disk and discovered I only saved the applications not the files (mail, itunes, iphoto and keychain).I have been experimenting with time machine. The first three I've figured out but can't seem to recover deleted keychain items using time machine.

You can't restore individual keychain items; you'll have to restore the entire keychain. You would do this via the Finder interface in Time Machine.. navigate to your ~/Library/Keychains folder and restore the keychain in question (probably named login.keychain).

That said... this will revert everything in your keychain to the last backup. Is this what you really want to do?
