need opengl for logic studio?

maybe i've been fooling myself into believing i could keep using my fw800 with my new Logic Studio...

i've upgraded my processor and ram. now, apparently, i need opengl to drive it properly. should i abandon hope, and buy a new computer; can i keep upgrading my g4 to the point where i don't have to- until i eventually DO have to get a new computer once new programs leave my mighty g4 in the dust? after i get opengl, will something else gum me up? have i set myself up for a short eternity of nickel and dime solutions?

such hopelessness for a first post! 😀

best regards...

g4 mdd fw800, Mac OS X (10.4.11), upgraded to 1.6g processor, 2g ram

Might you mean Core Image instead? (OpenGL is at the heart of OS X graphic routines.) If core Image support is required for Logic Studio, upgrading your video card with one that supports it, such as the Radeon 9600 and 9800 Mac Editions, would meet the minimum requirements.

Looking at the Logic Studio system req's, though, you're near the bottom of the list for the minimums.. If you're running Logic as more than a light hobby, I would think more about getting a newer system to run it on.
