Adding fonts to my macbook Pro

My professor just let me copy all the fonts we have at school (over 1,000 fonts) so I can put them on my computer so there is not problem when I go back and forth with my designs. I'm just not sure where to put all these fonts so that I can access them in all my programs (photoshop, illustrator, indesign, etc) What folder would I put them in so I can access them all?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

Copy them to your font folder in your user library folder and not the system font library folder.

There is actually a font tool in your utilities as well.
