My Mac Doesn't Play Any Sound..?

My Mac doesn't play any sound from iTune, Movies
but when i plug in my headphone the sound works
so my question is that is my speaker broken ?
the sound will only work if i use headphone
Model is iBook G3 (32 VRAM) 14"

A100Z, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.

Does the System Profiler see the speakers?

There was a similar problem and suggestions here:

Maybe an idea there will help.

I have tried everything they said in the other post but still no sound. this is my first mac, i usually build PC so do i need drivers for the sound? and i have the MAC OSX CD BTW, do you think that will it help if i reinstall the OS? also the system detected that the speak is installed, my iBook does not have any damage.

What is the MHz rating of the iBook?

How big is the hard drive and how much space remains available on it?

Is the iBook new to you?

this mac is 900MHz, it also has 40 GB HDD and 30 GB is free, this laptop is used.

Did you create a new user, log out, and log in as the new user to see if a new user also has the problem with the speakers?

By the way, no, there are no drivers to install.

yep tried that still doesn't work
I'm reinsalling the OS right now "OSX 10.4.11"
