iTunes stuck in billing info loop

I have been trying to buy a tv show for a few days now and all I can get is the same loop. I click buy and it asks me to log in for purchasing (I'm already logged in with my .mac account) so i type my password. It then says "your billing info has changed please verify to make purchases" (or something very similar)

So I type my password again and I get a screen showing my card details and my address. It has forgotten my security code from the back of my card so I type it in and click done.

I am then returned whatever screen I was previously on and thats it, no downloads no nothing.

So i then turn off one click purchasing so i get a shopping cart. I then add the two things i want to buy and click buy now. When prompted to enter my password for purchasing i do so and this time i check the box so i don't have to put my password in for every purchase.

The Billing info has changed thing again. It has also forgotten my security code from my card again. No joy.

I go to my apple tv and try to buy the same tv program. ATV says i must check my billing info from a computer since it has changed. this is the same information i put in to open a store account 18 months ago! hasn't changed since.

I then delete and re-enter all my card and address details and click done (from my mac) by going to the my info link on the apple website (found by googling iTunes billing info).

I open iTunes, sign out, close it, re-open it, sign in, delete the contents of my shopping cart, and add it again, (a distinctly PC like chain of events) click purchase and the same thing happens again.

Am i missing something? possible rokie mistake? (I've never bough anything from the iTunes store before) Or is this just another thing that doesn't work properly? Unfortunatly I can't say whether this is a post 7.6.1 problem as i haven't tried this before.

Any help would be much appreciated, as i was originally only trying to download two 9 minute Wallace and Gromit episodes for £3 to watch with a two year i was baby sitting. It has now taken me many times the length of the program to get this far, and I'm still nowhere!!!

I am also having the exact same problem.. Hopefully someone out there knows how to fix this. I contacted Apple/iTunes via email as they said "Apple does offer support for problems with not being able to purchase from the iTunes Store"!!! I couldn't believe it!

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, as Apple doesn't seem interested in my business anymore.

Thanks,

I was told by apple to buy an iTunes voucher from the Apple store then use that, as the store uses a different card authentication method (presumably one that f*cking works) from the iTunes store. That's it. Oh well, forget it then I'll get my content somewhere else (unless someone else can find a fix)

This is the response from Apple after I emailed them, haven't tried it yet though..

"I'm sorry you had trouble with your iTunes Store purchase. I know how frustrating this can be. I will be happy to help you as it is very important to me that your issues are resolved to your satisfaction.

To purchase from iTunes Store, you'll need to make corrections to your account information. To do this, follow these steps:

1) Sign out of the iTunes Store by choosing Sign Out from the Store menu in iTunes.

2) Visit Apple's My Info website:

http://myinfo.apple.com

3) Choose your country and preferred language. Then enter your iTunes Store account name and password and click Continue.

4) Choose Address Book from the menu on the left. On the Edit Address Book page, look at your shipping addresses at the bottom. If you have multiple shipping addresses, remove any out-of-date or duplicate addresses by clicking Delete. Also, make sure the state or province field is filled out correctly for each address. To edit an address, click Edit.

5) Now choose Phone Numbers from the menu on the left to look at your phone numbers. The area codes should be in the area code fields and the phone numbers should be in the phone number fields. If an area code is missing, or if it is in a phone number field, your account information may not save properly.

6) Make any other necessary corrections, then click the Save Changes button.

7) Click Log out in the upper-right corner.

When you make your next iTunes Store purchase, you will be asked to review your billing information. At that point, you can change your information or simply click Done. After that, you should be able to purchase items.

If iTunes continues to display an error message when you make purchases, please reply to this email and include this information:

1. Your complete billing address
2. A full description of what you tried to do and any iTunes error messages you received
3. Permission to reset your password so that Apple can investigate the issue

I apologize again for any frustration this may have caused. Apple wants your iTunes experience to be as enjoyable as possible.

I hope this information is helpful. Thank you for shopping at the iTunes Store."

I've fixed it. I had trouble with the billing info loop since I switched to a new card.

I contacted Apple Support and they suggested all the usual stuff, like logging into the iTunes Store and reseting all my card details etc. That didn't work.

Then they suggested that I log into the Apple Store Online (not the iTunes store) and log into my account details there. I checked my addresses and phone numbers, then added my new card under the optional card details box (as no card details were tied to my Apple Store account).

This seemed to do the trick...
